Suzuki children attend violin lessons from a very early age, the idea being that they will absorb musical ability with the same ease that they do their 'mother tongue' language. Violin lessons can be attended from the age of 3, although it is never too late to begin learning.

Parental involvement is one of the key aspects of this method that makes it so successful. Parents are expected to attend their child's lessons and may be taught basic violin skills along with their child so that they can give good guidance during home practice.

Group lessons are imperative, as well as individual lessons, so that a child associates playing their instrument with being a social and enjoyable activity. Children are also encouraged to go to, as well as participate in, musical concerts of all descriptions.

The method states that every child has the ability to become 'talented' at an instrument, provided they are surrounded in the correct musical environment and enjoy playing their instrument. As a trained Suzuki violin teacher, I will assist in creating this environment, as well as equipping your child with the technical knowledge they will need to become a competent musician.
